Bought in 1944 by descendants of the Irish rebel Robert Emmet who was hanged for treason.

This 18th century house was built for general Thomas Pearce in the early 1700s and bought by descendants of the Irish rebel Robert Emmet in 1944. The Emmet Museum houses Robert Emmet’s college books. Robert Emmet was hanged for ‘treason’ in the early 1800s.
